From the selection available, there must be hundreds of reasons why people select a cooler. I personally chose an Igloo Cool 48 because I love the way the lid opens and the storage tray that can keep food out of the ice. Some have wheels, some even operate electrically, but all will probably not let you down. These are all hard-sided coolers, the soft ones are too difficult to organize for my tastes.
